Columbiana Clippers basketball team makes history with undefeated season

Clippers finish 22-0, win first state championship

The Columbiana Clippers boys basketball team made history on Saturday night by defeating the St. Edward Eagles 65-56 to win the Division II state championship. The Clippers finished the season with a perfect 22-0 record, the first undefeated season in school history.

The Clippers were led by senior guard AJ Moore, who scored a game-high 22 points. Moore was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

"It's an amazing feeling," Moore said. "We worked so hard all season for this, and it finally paid off."

The Clippers also received strong performances from senior forward Austin Reese and junior guard Ethan Moore. Reese scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Ethan Moore added 14 points and 6 assists.

The Clippers' victory is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. The team has been practicing since early November, and they have put in countless hours in the weight room and on the court.

"We knew we had a special team this year," said Clippers coach Judd Thomas. "These guys have worked so hard, and they deserve all the credit."

The Clippers' victory is a great accomplishment for the school and the community. It is the first state championship in any sport for Columbiana High School.

"This is a great day for Columbiana," Thomas said. "We are so proud of our boys."
