Bayern Munich Manager Hansi Flick Reveals Wife's Cancer Diagnosis
Former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has revealed that his wife, Silke, has been diagnosed with cancer.
In an emotional Instagram post, Flick wrote: "With great sadness I have to announce that my wife Silke has been diagnosed with cancer. We are all shocked and devastated by this news."
Flick, who left Bayern Munich in the summer after winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League treble, said that his wife is currently undergoing treatment and that the family is "doing everything we can to support her."
"We ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy at this difficult time," Flick added.
Flick's announcement has been met with an outpouring of support from the football community. Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "We are all deeply saddened by this news. Hansi and Silke are a wonderful couple and we are all here for them."
Former Bayern Munich and Germany captain Philipp Lahm said: "Hansi, I am so sorry to hear about Silke. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers."
